Sclerotherapy is a procedure to reduce the appearance of spider veins. Sclerotherapy involves an injection of a solution (generally a salt solution) directly into the vein. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing it to collapse and stick together. The blood will then be redirected deeper down along the typical route so it does not appear on the surface of the skin.
