Face Surgery means something different for everyone and changes over the course of our lives. Skin care regimes and protection from ultraviolet light is a fundamental foundation of caring for your face over a lifetime, particularly in the harsh Australian climate. As we enter our late 20’s and 30’s non-surgical interventions such as neuromodulators can help reduce the formation of wrinkles, while critical volume placement can increase the volume of the features. In our late 30’s and 40’s our skin often requires a deeper level of treatment with resurfacing modalities and collagen stimulating procedures to refresh the surface and texture of the skin.
With passing years techniques to address skin laxity and skin ptosis in the deeper tissues and volume changes need to be incorporated and may involve a transition to surgical procedures. With good planning and execution these techniques strengthen the foundations to maintain your appearance long-term. Depending on our environmental exposures and genetic background the desire for more effective procedures to reposition tissue to their position and remove redundant skin may need to be incorporated. The facial ageing process is usually not limited to one area and typically involves the hairline down to the clavicles.
Dr Watts has achieved the highest level of training and qualifications in Face surgery procedures; he has positioned himself uniquely to be able to give you a balanced and realistic evaluation and formulation of a tailored treatment regime over your entire lifetime. Facial deformities can arise secondary to a number of causes including congenital, traumatic and oncological (cancer). Dr Watts uses the skills that he has acquired through his training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Cleft and Craniomaxillofacial Surgery to provide his patients with a tailored approach to surgical reconstruction.

Facial design is a special interest for Dr Watts and he has dedicated much of his career to learning its nuances. He developed his philosophy and approach towards facial design after experiencing a divergence in the procedures offered by varying facial surgeons. By blending facial plastic surgery, craniomaxillofacial surgery and cosmetic surgery he is able to bridge the gaps limiting single specialty surgeons and offer his patients reliable and powerful techniques from each of these disciplines.
Facial design incorporates procedures that can alter your facial balance or accentuate existing features. Optimal results require a balance of technical skill and judgment. Dr Watts presents to his patients a unique approach that few other surgeons can replicate.
The most common surgical procedure sought in facial design is Rhinoplasty, the nose being a key feature in our appearance and subtle changes in shape, projection and symmetry can significantly alter facial aesthetics. A recessive or weak chin in a male or female can be altered with Chin Augmentation through the use of chin implants or osseous genioplasty. More significant imbalances involving the upper of lower jaws may require orthognathic (jaw) surgery to increase the bite and facial balance. Augmentation of the facial soft tissues with fat grafting or skeletal augmentation with custom designed implants can alter the underlying skeletal structure to accentuate facial features. Dr Watts utilises innovative facial software and 3D imaging when performing his facial analysis and treatment planning. Book a consultation with Dr Watts to discuss your options.
