Arm Lift – Brachioplasty

ARM LIFT (BRACHIOPLASTY)

Arm Lift - BrachioplastyDr Guy Watts is not currently taking on new patients for the arm lift procedure at this time. Please see the information below to help you on your plastic surgery research journey.

Weight fluctuations, the natural ageing process and even genetics can result in a tendency to form loose saggy skin on the upper arms. An arm lift, also referred to as a brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure which can create a more defined and firmer looking upper arm by removing excess skin and fat.

Several different incisions and techniques can be used for an arm lift to achieve the desired result. Liposuction is also an integral component of an arm lift procedure and helps to sculpt a leaner upper arm profile and maximise skin removal. During your personalised consultation, Dr Watts will examine your unique anatomy and discuss your goals and desires to recommend which incision type and placement will be right for you.

WHAT CAN AN ARM LIFT DO FOR ME?

    • Remove excess skin and fat from the upper arms
    • Rejuvenate and tighten skin of the upper arms
    • Restore upper arm contours
    • Create more defined and leaner looking arms

When considering a formal arm lift it is important to understand that the improvements in shape and contour are achieved with the addition of a scar. This will commence in the armpit crease and may extend to a varying degree along the inner aspect of the arm toward the elbow. This scar may therefore be visible depending on the type of clothing worn. During your postoperative phase Dr Watts and his team will guide you through their scar management protocol to speed healing and minimise scarring.

ARM LIFT PROCEDURE AND RECOVERY PERIOD

Dr Watts performs his arm lift procedure on an outpatient basis using general anaesthesia. On average this surgery takes 2 hours to complete. A compression garment will be applied after the procedure to minimise swelling and provide support , this is generally worn for 4-6 weeks. After surgery you will be observed for a few hours to ensure your initial recovery is progressing well before you are allowed to return home with a friend or family member.

Written procedure specific information sheets will be given to you in order for you to prepare for your surgery and the recovery period. You may experience mild to moderate discomfort after the procedure and so a postoperative analgesia regime will be tailored to meet your specific needs. It is not uncommon to experience some swelling and bruising after the procedure with most settling within 2 weeks. We recommend 1 week off work to allow for recovery and 3 weeks before returning to light exercise.

Dr Watts and his team are dedicated to providing ongoing care, support and guidance throughout your entire journey. They will be readily available to answer any further questions you may have to ensure a safe and smooth recovery. For more information please call our office to schedule a personal consultation with Dr Watts to discuss how an armlift can benefit you.
